FIRST AID - SNAKE BITES

The below is general information about the treatment of Australian snake bites

STEP 1 - IF BITTEN BY A SNAKE

- Stay calm and do NOT panic.

- Australia has the most venomous snakes in the world

- What you do in the first few minutes of a snake bite could save your life.

STEP 2: IMMEDIATELY BACK AWAY

- Do NOT attempt to capture or harm the snake.

- Keep all children and animals away from the snake.

- Keep a responsible person to watch the snake from a safe distance.

STEP 3 - Call 000 or 112 from Mobile

- When calling 000, the first question you will be asked is: "Police, Fire or Ambulance"

- Request ambulance and you will be transferred to the "ambulance" service.

- After you have been transferred, follow the directions of the 000 operator.

- Be sure to Advise your location and that you have been bitten by a snake.

STEP 4 - APPLY A PRESSURE BANDAGE

- ONLY IF DIRECTED TO DO SO: Apply a pressure bandage using the "pressure immobilisation technique"

- NOTE: This is a guide only, the directions of 000 or your health care provider supersede the steps shown in the pictures below.

STEP 5 - CALL THE SNAKE HUNTER ON 0403 875 409

- Follow the Instructions of the SNAKE HUNTER

- Ensure a responsible person keeps an eye on the location of the snake.

- The SNAKE HUNTER will attend the premises and safely capture and remove the snake.
